{MACARONI KID REVIEW} Yorkville Nutcracker is Classic and Timeless

Sponsored Review

By Marzie Carey December 13, 2017

My daughter and I had the opportunity to go see The Yorkville Nutcracker at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.  This year marks the 22nd anniversary of The Yorkville Nutcracker. Unlike traditional Nutcracker shows, The Yorkville Nutcracker is set in 1895, which includes lavish sets and costumes and takes the audience on a tour through Old New York's most beloved landmarks, including a holiday party at Gracie Mansion dancing at the Crystal Palace in the New York Botanical Garden and skating in Central Park.

My favorite scene takes place on a pond in Central Park in front of the Dakota building, and the magic sleigh transports the children to the Crystal Palace at the Bronx Botanical Gardens while snow falls down the stage.

The Yorkville Nutcracker provides an opportunity for young dancers to dance alongside professional artists from Dances PatrelleThe show is about two hours with one intermission. There is a concessions stand, but no food or drinks are allowed in the theater.

The Yorkville Nutcracker has a limited engagement from December 7 through December 10, 2017. If you miss the show, be sure to grab tickets early next year!
