Valley Rock Inn & Mountain Club: A Gateway to Outdoor Fun and Fitness

By Angeline Sheridan February 21, 2019

Now more that ever, outdoor and fitness enthusiasts have easy access to biking, kayaking, swimming and hiking around the 70,000 acres of Harriman State Park and Sterling Forest all year round, thanks in large part to Valley Rock Inn & Mountain Club.

Tucked in the quaint community of Sloatsburg, New York,  Valley Rock Inn could be its own self-sustaining village. Meticulously developed by entrepreneur Michael Bruno, the compound features three historic guesthouses, each beautifully decorated with some of Bruno's personal collection; an organic farmers market open Fridays through Sundays featuring vegan treats, flowers, and fresh produce from Bruno's farm in Chester, New York; and a two-floor fitness building complete with state-of-the-art equipment such as treadmills and free weights, a spin room and yoga room. Open May through October, Valley Rock Inn's Bar and Grill has a spacious outdoor patio overlooking a lovely courtyard reminiscent of the Secret Garden.

As a Mountain Club member, you can enjoy Valley Rock's amenities year-round which includes access to the fitness building, the 75-foot outdoor swimming pool in the summer months, and use of kayaks, e-bikes, road and mountain bikes to explore the beautiful state parks surrounding it.

Although it officially opened to the public in the fall of 2018, there is more to look forward to this spring, including an Art Gallery that will showcase works by local artists, and the impressive Rusticator Lodge featuring a great room, dining room and a celebrity chef kitchen, all scheduled to be complete in late April/May. There may be a spa coming soon as well.

Make sure you have an exit strategy when you visit Valley Rock Inn & Mountain Club. The staff are so welcoming, and the vibe is so relaxing that you'll never want to leave.
